It’s been an achingly long, three-year slog up until this point, but Chevrolet has finally taken the wraps off the production version of the 2011 Camaro Convertible ahead of its big day at the LA Auto Show.

The somewhat small images posted on Facebook give us our first view of the drop-top pony car with its canvas roof in place, but other than that, the ‘vert is exactly what you’ve come to expect. Both V6 and V8 models will be available at launch, with the six-pot RS putting out 312 horsepower and the range-topping LS3-equipped SS producing 426 ponies. Sales are set to begin this March, with an entry-level price tag of around $30,000.

Videos: Chevrolet releases new “Duramax & Allison” ad campaign to promote Silverado HD

maxandal 450x300 Videos: Chevrolet releases new Duramax & Allison ad campaign to promote Silverado HD

General Motors’ advertising department has seen quite a shakeup over the past year. GM chief marketing officer Joel Ewanick may have hand-picked San Francisco-based Goodby, Silverstein and Partners as his ad agency of choice, but the good ol’ boys from Campbell-Ewald still have some tricks up their sleeves for ChevyTrucks.

The world may not completely understand how and why Chevy runs deep (to be fair, we’re going to give it some time…), but nobody is going to miss the hidden meaning of GM’s new “Max and Al” campaign, which features the recognizable faces of Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld, Rules of Engagement) as Max, and Craig Robinson (The OfficeLast Comic Standing, Hot Tub Time Machine) as Al.

What hidden meaning, you ask? You’ll see it clearly when you watch the videos, naturally, but basically what we have here is a message that GM’s Duramax diesel V8 engine and Allison transmission is a time-tested and proven combination that is the thinking man’s obvious choice in a segment that also includes Ford’s Power Stroke and Ram’s Cummins series.

SEMA 2010: Chevrolet gets aggressive with two special Corvettes

07 sema 2010 corvettes press 630op1 450x300 SEMA 2010: Chevrolet gets aggressive with two special Corvettes

Chevrolet is upping the ante at SEMA 2010 with the reveal of two new Corvette concepts – one focused on style and another ready to take to the track.

The 2011 Jake Edition Concept (pictured right) takes the Corvette Racing team’s mascot, and plasters the skull logo inside and out. The Jake Edition remains a concept as some accessories aren’t available yet, but are likely to hit the market sometime next year.

On the other end of the spectrum lies the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06X Track Car Concept, which takes a standard Z06 and stuffs it with an SCCA-approved roll cage, racing seat and harness and fire suppression system. Besides the required racing bits, the car has been extensively lightened thanks to carbon fiber body panels, a polycarbonate rear window and the removal of the radio, carpets and sound-deadening material. Again, just a concept, but if there was ever a ‘Vette to put up against the Dodge Viper ACR-X, this is it.

SEMA 2010: Chevrolet Silverado HD offers rugged, work-ready performance

01 sema 2010 silverado press 630op 450x300 SEMA 2010: Chevrolet Silverado HD offers rugged, work ready performance

In addition to the usual raft of Corvettes and Camaros, General Motors will be bringing a pair of customized pickups to this year’s SEMA show. The full range of heavy duty GM trucks were revamped for 2011, and thus, the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD will be on display.

First up, the SEMA-bound Silverado 2500 HD Z71 features a Switchblade Silver exterior color wrapped with custom Z71 graphics. Other exterior upgrades include 20-inch wheels painted in Corvette Competition Gray, a body-color grille, hard-folding tonneau cover, hitch-mounted winch, amber roof lamps and six-inch oval assist steps also painted in that special Corvette gray. Inside the truck, GM has fitted dual DVD headrests, mobile wi-fi and a Chevrolet Accessory trim plate kit. The modified truck is powered by GM’s new 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 and six-speed automatic transmission, which as we’ve found out in our testing, is one honey of a powertrain.
