Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition to start at $90,960

General Motors unveiled the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition at the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in March, and the special edition Z06 immediately piqued our interest. In addition to The General’s free-breathing 7.0-liter V8, the Z06 Carbon gets our mouths watering with the addition of carbon fiber body panels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and Magnetic Selective Ride Control. Those ZR1-style dark-painted wheels are pure hotness, as well.

Now, the enthusiast site Corvette Blogger is reporting that GM’s Corvette product marketing manager, Harlan Charles, spilled the beans on pricing and availability, saying that the Z06 Carbon will reportedly carry an MSRP of $90,960 when it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2011. Fully optioned, this special Corvette will run all the way up to $99,925. That’s a lot of money, but it’s still several thousand dollars less than the ZR1, and while the latter may be faster out on the road, the Z06 Carbon is indeed all the more exclusive.

Video: What happens when 1,500-lbs of cell phones are dropped on a Camaro

camaro 630 450x244 Video: What happens when 1,500 lbs of cell phones are dropped on a Camaro

The wonders of advertising have brought us many miracles of entertainment and phenomena of pop culture over the decades. From Budweiser Frogs to ridiculously capable blenders, as a society, we’ve likely wasted away several lifetimes just watching people try to sell us the next best product. Well, pull up a chair and get ready to chalk up a few more moments. Pace Butler Office, a cell phone recycling company, wanted to get the word out about the damage that throwing away your old cell phone can wreak on the environment. For that, they needed a visual aid – the kind that only an fourth-gen Camaro and 1,500-pound pallet of busted handsets can deliver.

As you might expect, the roof of the old Bow Tie isn’t quite up to withstanding the force of all those phones dropped from above, and the damage is catastrophic. Pace Butler Office says that the Camaro was in no state to drive and that it wasn’t going back on the road in the near future. After the death-from-above stunt, an employee reportedly bought the car to use for parts later, so it’s not a complete loss.

Even so, we have to shed a tear for the videos after the jump. Click here to see for yourself.

Man caught driving 200 km/h on public roads gets $235,000 Ferrari taken away

ferrari canada1 450x298 Man caught driving 200 km/h on public roads gets $235,000 Ferrari taken away

Two speed-loving Canadians have had the keys to their hoon machines taken away. A 2008 Ferrari 430 Scuderia and a 2008 BMW M6 were caught speeding up Mount Seymour in British Columbia, hitting speeds of up to 200 km/h (about 126 miles per hour) in a 60 km/h zone, as well as narrowly missing a mother who was walking with her two children. As you’d expect, the cars were impounded, but the provincial government is taking things a step further. Both vehicles are going to be sold. In fact, the Ferrari has already moved on to a new home and the M6 is set to hit the auction block in the very near future.

The Ferrari is owned in part by a relative of the person driving at the time. That relative will receive 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale, while the other owner receives 30 percent. The government is going to hold on to the rest. The owner of the M6 also receives 30 percent but the government keeps the other 70. The reason for the payouts? To clear notes on each car with the owners respective banks.

Historic Talbot 14/65 Boat Tail Tourer up for auction at Brooklands

01 talbot 630 450x252 Historic Talbot 14/65 Boat Tail Tourer up for auction at Brooklands

Here’s a rare slice of history. If you’ve got the means, you just might be able to pick up one very unique 1932 Talbot. The 14/65 Boat Tail Tourer is going up for auction at Brooklands on December 4. Built almost 80 years ago, the car was given its unique all-mahogany body work in 1969. The three inch by .25-inch planks were originally sourced from Honduras and make up the entire shell of the car, including the doors, hood and tail section. As you might have guessed, the bodywork was completely done by hand.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of the nautical and automotive worlds, look no further. Brooklands expects this particular Talbot to go for a relatively reasonable £20,000-30,000. The auction house is quick to point out that if you were to build the car today, that’s roughly the cost of the woodwork alone. How’s that for a bargain? Hit the jump for the full press release.

Video: Jay Leno’s Garage welcomes the Jaguar C-X75 concept

jay leno with jaguar c x75 450x257 Video: Jay Lenos Garage welcomes the Jaguar C X75 concept

Here’s another feather for Jay Leno’s cap. The Tonight Show host can officially say that he is one of only a handful of drivers to have slipped their way behind the wheel of the amazing Jaguar C-X75 concept from this year’s Paris Motor Show. Penned by design guru Ian Callum, the supercar is as sexy as it is advanced. The vehicle gets its power from a quartet of electric motors that are good for 195 horsepower each. Throw in two small turbine engines for generating power and you’ve got one very unconventional extended-range hybrid.

The C-X75 was designed to celebrate the Leaping Cat’s diamond anniversary, and as such, the company pulled all the stops. With a design that pulls from the most successful points in Jaguar history, the car is nothing short of gorgeous. Will it make it to production? We’re not sure, but for the moment, you can hit the jump to watch Leno take it all in – and don’t forget to watch for an appearance by Callum, too.
